How to Create a MS SQL Database and Database Users in Plesk?

This article provides a guide on using Plesk to manage MS SQL databases and database users.

  • Log in to Plesk.

  • Click on "Databases."

  • To establish a database and database user, choose "OK."

This will cause the "Add a Database" window to appear, requiring you to enter the information.

  • Enter the desired name for the database in the "Database name" field.

  • Choose an MS SQL database server from the "Database server" dropdown.

  • Assign the database to a specific website by selecting it from the dropdown.

  • To create a database user, input the username in the "Database username" field.

  • Type the password in the "Password" field. The password must be alphanumeric, including a combination of uppercase and lowercase letters, numbers, and special characters.

  • Enter the same password in the "Confirm password" field.

  • If you prefer to use an auto-generated password, click on "Generate." Both the "Password" and "Confirm Password" fields will be automatically filled with a randomly generated password.

  • To view the password, click on "Show." Copy this password and paste it into a notepad file for future reference.

  • If you wish to conceal the password, click on "Hide."

  • If you want to grant this user access to all databases created under this subscription, select the checkbox. It is recommended to keep it unchecked.

The default setting in the "Remote Access" section is "Use the system firewall rules." If you opt for the "Allow remote connections from" option, it permits specific IP addresses to access the database on behalf of this user. It is recommended to choose the default option, allowing connections based on the system firewall rules.

  • To generate a database and database user, select "OK."

  • You will receive a success message, and your new database user can be found in User Management.

You can click on the username at any time to modify its settings.
