How To Create A Virtual Directory In Plesk?

You need to follow the steps mentioned below for creating a virtual directory in Plesk:

  • Login to Plesk.
  • Look for the domain for which you wish to create the virtual directory and click on ‘Virtual Directories’.
  • Go to the directory where you want to create the virtual directory.
  • Click on the option – ‘Create Virtual Directory’.
  • Under the ‘Virtual Directory’ section, in the text box – ‘Name’, enter the name of the virtual directory.
  • Tick the ‘Path’ check box in order to create a physical directory automatically with the same name as the name of the virtual directory. Alternatively, you can clear the check box and mention the path in the text box for using a physical directory that exists already.
  • Tick the ‘Script source access’ check box to enable the users to access the source code in case the read and write permissions are enabled.
  • Tick the ‘Read permission’ check box to enable the users to read the file content and their other associated properties.
  • Tick the ‘Write permission’ check box to unable the users to upload files in the virtual directory or to enable them to edit the existing files that are write-enabled.
  • Tick the ‘Directory browsing’ check box in order to enable the users to see an index consisting the files and directories in the virtual directory.
  • Tick the ‘Log visits’ check box in order to log and save the visitor information for the virtual directory.
  • Under the ‘Application Settings’ section, select the ‘Create application’ check box in order to make the directory an IIS application. When this option is enabled, the directory becomes independent from the website.
  • In the list box – ‘Execute permissions’, select the level of program execution that is needed for your virtual directory:
  • Click on ‘OK’.

Plesk will create a virtual directory.
